Rainy, sunny breaks
3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Visitors - 16

As I had hoped, Spring Break is turning out to be the winter we didn't have! As a result, traffic to the dock should be pretty light which is a good thing because Luna is back.

The rain stopped for a short while this afternoon and the sun broke through the clouds, so at 3:30 p.m. I headed for the dock. Luna was hanging around a Coast Guard ship rubbing against it and the life raft towed behind it. He seemed to take great pleasure in bathing in a spout of water pouring from the lower rear side of the ship, lifting his body up into it and rolling onto his back to let the water pour onto his chin and belly.

When the boom boat tied up at the service dock (behind the UCHUCK) to gas up, Luna went to visit it. Once he had finished gassing up, the boom boat operator headed back to work with Luna close behind. Luna only went a short distance into the booms before turning back to the Coast Guard ship. He was still there when I left him at 4:45 p.m.

During the hour I spent at the dock 16 people came to Luna watch. Nine of those visitors belonged to one family and the other seven came and went fairly quickly. At no point did Luna venture over to the lower dock where he can come into physical contact with people. Also, he ignored the two boats that arrived and the one that left.

Alberto Girotto of the UCHUCK had not seen Luna in at the dock in quite some time and, in fact, did not even know that Luna had come in today mentioning that he could not have been in the dock area for long. Alberto said he had last seen Luna far out in Nootka Sound and had hoped that he was content to stay there since he did not follow the UCHUCK back home as he is wont to do. It is likely that he came in with the Coast Guard.
