FALL E-TEAM 2001 BIOGRAPHIES

WENDY

I just moved to Victoria after finishing my degree in International Development Studies at Dalhousie, where I made the enlightened transition from global cynicism to the belief that positive change at the community or personal level. I enjoy stretching and all outdoor activities particularly water orientated. This is one reason why I chose to work with VOLWS. In part to learn more about my surroundings but more importantly to become part of the ongoing solution. I believe to find a solution we need respect for the environment that stems from reconnecting oneself with it. Ultimately no lifestyle change is too small to make a difference.

CLAIRE

Hey I'm Claire how's it going? I'm a recent geography and environmental studies grad from Uvic who's giving her brain a breather before doing an MSc. In Envirnmnetla Management at Royal Roads. That way way I have time to rock climb, outrigger canoe, go to singing lessons volunteer with the Canadian Diabetes Association and Heart and Stroke Foundation, travel and just be with family and friends. I belive that the health of our envirnment is reflected in the health of our society. Therefore the way that we use the fix it method for our health so we do for the environment. If there is to be a future for the environment we have to have people interested in it then have them care about it. In my career I hope to blend the worlds of economics and the environment. " A vision without a task is but a dream. A task without a vision is drudgery. A vision with a task is the hope of the world.

Cheers

JEREMIE

I am a devoted Environmentalist who loves exploring the outdoors. I have experience in vegetation and protected areas mapping. I have coordinated hiking clean-up teams in the southern Okanagan Valley grassland of B.C. to try and keep the "beauty" in these beautiful areas. I believe that the way you treat yourself is reflective of how you treat the environment. Therefore, if you respect your body you will naturally respect your planet. Besides the nature gig, music is my main focus. I play guitar for a world beats band. I also play percussions and enjoy writing and hiking. I love people who love people, and I'm partial to hugs and tribes. My future plans include ecology and music degrees. Keep the peace, and the smiles, and enjoy and respect our common mother, this planet that we call ours, Earth.

TESSA

Hey, I'm Tessa. I love the outdoors and I want to help make the earth as healthy as it can be, so I'm here with the E-team work crew. As a recent high school grad, I'm happy to be doing a job that is so satisfying and directly relates to my future goals. As I learn more about the environment and spend my days working with it, I am awed by its vitality and find upmost respect for all living things. I wish everyone could have this same opportunity to spend their days as stewards of the earth. And to remind myself to enjoy all the little joys of life, here is a quote by e.e.cummings - "May my heart always be open to the little birds who are the secretes of living."

MEGHAN

Hey, I'm Meghan. I'm in the midst of a time out from the Uvic geography department hoping to dig in the dirt a little in order to balance life with the books. I think that it is important to live what you learn in order to cultivate a deeper understanding of it. I believe that once we see ourselves as part of this interconnected and magical wonderland the stewardship of the environment, and our actions within it, will become inherent gestures of care. On a different front, I'm pretty into place and people and poetry and love anything that makes me laugh. I'm always reminded that it's the little things. Things are good to go at Veins of Life, and I'm happy to be here.
