Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia)
Description: This bird has a long, rounded tail which it pumps in flight. Brown breast streaks merge into a large central dot. Its back is uniformly brown and its head is often streaked with grey.
Range: Alaska and Canada to central Mexico.
Habitat: Found in thickets, marshes and along roadsides. Also common in gardens.
General: The bird nests in hedges and is easily attracted to feeders with bird seed.
