Green Sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris)
Identification: Body rounded, head moderately long, large and broad. Snout is elongated, blunt and rounded with 4 barbels between the snout and the mouth, closer to mouth than to tip of snout. Mouth is ventral and toothless. Body and head dark green to olive-green colour, lower edge of head, body and all ventral surfaces paler to whitish green.
Life History: Usually found in marine waters, but can occur in freshwater. May be anadromous, moving into freshwater through the fall and winter to spawn in the spring.
